About

Dov Fuchs is a multifaceted Israeli artist whose work blends photography and digital art into evocative, surreal self-portraits that explore identity, memory, and the emotional experience of aging. Born in Haifa in 1948, Dov brings to his art a rich and varied life experience that includes over three decades of work in Israel’s aerospace industry. For more than 33 years, he held technical, R&D, and management positions at a leading Israeli aerospace and defense company before taking early retirement in 2007 to pursue his creative path full-time. He holds both BSc and MSc degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Entirely self-taught in photography and digital composition, Dov embarked on his artistic journey with a fresh perspective and an engineer’s precision. With himself as the central figure in his compositions, he constructs introspective, dreamlike worlds that confront universal questions through a deeply personal lens. His images are layered with symbolism and emotion, often combining whimsicality with philosophical inquiry or subtle social commentary.
Dov's work has been widely exhibited in solo and group shows throughout Israel, the United States, and Europe, including venues such as the Marc Chagall Artists' House Gallery (Haifa), Ben Ami Gallery (Tel Aviv), Contemplor Gallery (Vienna), and TeraVarna Gallery (Los Angeles), with an upcoming solo exhibition at the Global Art Gallery (Tel Aviv) in October 2025. Over 70 of his images have been published in Living the Photo Artistic Life, where he was named Featured Artist in February 2024, and he has been interviewed by both 1X Magazine and Bold Journey Magazine.
A member of the Israeli Painters and Sculptors Association, Dov has received numerous awards for his work, including over 40 curators’ recognitions at the esteemed 1X Gallery, where more than 150 of his images have been published. His work has also earned distinctions in international juried competitions hosted by TeraVarna Gallery in Los Angeles.
In addition to his visual art, Dov is an accomplished writer and the author of two novels. He is married, a father of two, and grandfather to five — and his reflections on family, time, and personal transformation resonate throughout his artistic universe
